Keeping your databases is very expensive.  Unfortunately, if you're going to
use your GPS for IFR flight, approaches, procedures, etc., it must be kept
current.  My alternative is to use my iPad with a $150/yr subscription to
ForFlight (http://www.foreflight.com/ipad) for all my flights (VFR & IFR)
and then once a year I update my Garmin 430W databases for $100.  It seems
to work very well and I don't have Jeppesen gouging me.

I just wrote out a check for $624.45 to keep my Chelton system up to date
for another year.

Do any of you know a less expensive option than Jeppesen?  Or do they simply
have a corner on this market place?
