Jeff and Doug,
Well, it's a beginning -- There are some problems:
1. You can fill it out as many times as you want. That may be a
problem or help with problem # 2.
2. It doesn't take into account folks that have built more than one E-AB
since it only wants info on use of your "current E-AB."
3. The survey would be more useful if it was a longitudinal
study. There is no way to associate the current set of
survivor/responders with future mayhems among the same population.
4. It would be more useful if most of the same survey information
was obtained about pilots that, uh, didn't survive. That could be
correlated with those that do. I don't know if there is some standard
format about pilot info that the NTSB collects at each E-AB accident.
5. Builder-pilot data is different than Purchaser-pilot data and so
are the implications drawn from such.
I hope the survey suggests some ways to enhance E-AB safety
without resorting to additional "regulations." I also hope the survey
results are not going to be used as a hammer by the aviation
insurance underwriters.

W. Johnson,
Please
take a few minutes and fill out this survey.....it might put to rest a bunch
of misconceptions (or not ...;)
The EAA will
be collecting survey data this summer.
Operators,
builders, and owners of E-AB aircraft who are
interested
in participating in the survey should go to
