The wire is open until the flaps are moved down 1/3 then it closes and you hear "flaps". If the flaps are up when it goes off and it is the AOA doing it, then you have an intermittent short in that wire. If the flaps are down when it does it, then you have an intermittent loose connection in that wire. If it is the Chelton, you are on your own. :>) Bill B -----Original Message----- From: Lancair Mailing List [mailto:lml@lancaironline.net] On Behalf Of John Hafen Sent: Tuesday, July 12, 2011 4:26 PM To: lml@lancaironline.net Subject: [LML] Stupid Question about, "Voice annunciator enabled. Have a nice flight....." Gents: I hope one of you can help me "finger out" the link between my Chelton system and some other system (perhaps my AOA Pro) that causes an aural annunciation of "FLAPS" on the ground while taxiing, and at times in the pattern. In the Chelton documentation, Section 2 - Caution/Warning/Advisory system, it lists pages of warnings that will cause "Tones," "Chimes," or verbiage. The verbal warnings include: Pull Up, Terrain, Obstruction, Stall, Overspeed, Minimums, Too Low - Terrain, Too Low -- Gear, Too Low -- Flaps, Sink Rate, Glide Slope, Traffic, Fuel Low, etc. No where on the list does it designate a "FLAPS" aural warning. I'm guessing (need your assistance here) that the "FLAPS" warning is triggered some how from my AOA Pro, which I have carefully calibrated according to the documentation and calibration check lists. I can go into the system menu of the Cheltons and turn down the volume for all alerts, but I don't favor that approach. What I really care about is getting rid of the barking "FLAPS" warning -- especially while taxiing. Anyone have any ideas?
