I had huge problems with hot starts on my tsio540(lyc). Emptied my battery many times and had to walk home more than once. Answer was the not flood it first of all. So it was throttle, mixture full forward, boost only until the needle on fuel pressure moved, then idle cutoff and crank engine until startup. (usually only a few seconds) and then add in the mixture before it dies. Lastly and really helped was to add a second Magneto  with impulse coupling. Normally there is only one mag with that and therefore the ignition switch when twisted to start cuts out half the fire. I haven't had a hot start problem since.

What have you found to be the best hot start procedure for a TSIO 550, with mags, in an IVP?  I'm not talking immediately after engine shut down, but shut down on a hot tarmac after 30 to 40 minutes so the fuel lines are nice and hot and boiling the internal fuel.

Thanks,
