I have lost may leveling holes and need to reweigh my IV-P.  What is the best way to level a IV-P?

Craig,

I don’t recall if you built your airplane or you’re the second owner, but the landing gear box—and the associated pressure bulkhead that is the seat bottom is within a couple of tenths of a degree of level on my airplane…definitely close enough for W/B considerations…but I’d be reluctant to trust that if you’ve never checked/measured it before… (hint for the future).

The other assist I can offer: I marked the leveling point on the inside flange of my tail access panel. This corresponds to the two “dimples” originally formed in the fuselage at the firewall joggle. When I marked the tail flange, I also drilled out the firewall joggle dimples and installed short rivets on each side that would be harder to lose track of/paint over/remove.

I can’t get to my airplane before this weekend, but if it would help, I can measure the location of these leveling marks on my airplane and pass them to you as “inches down from the top motor mount bolts… and “inches above the center of the rear inspection panel opening” if that would help. This should be accurate within a quarter inch; probably better than that as long as someone hasn’t taken liberties with relocating the access panel or similar? As the distance is about 24’ between the marks, the leveling error will be less than 0.1 degree; well good enough for W/B…

Let me know.

Bob
