Bill,
I had the same problem. On my ES, the "new" replacement aluminum
plates from Lancair looked like they were made for the Legacy, way too small to
replace the original ones. I ended up using my original plates as patterns
to make new ones. I used double sided tape to hold the new and old together and
cut and sanded to get a perfect match, not too bad really.
I had made the mistake of countersinking the screws instead of using a
dimpling tool. I borrowed the dimpling dies from an RV guy on the
field.
