The recent discussions about mounting a camera on
the tail of an aircraft reminded me of a project I did a couple years ago for a
friend of mine. He was building an RV-10 and couldn't figure out how to
put a small video camera in the fiberglass upper section of the vertical
fin. I molded a fiberglass tube around the camera and blended it into the
fin tip. The camera slips into the tube and clamps on the inside.
Not sure how this could be done when the tip isn't removable but it works good
in this application. I tried to convince him that the camera should be
facing aft to see the Lancairs rapidly overtaking him. We're still
friends.
