Happy Thanksgiving Everybody,
Getting close to closing out your center wing top skins? Note
the instructions found in Chapter 10 illustrate the use of two straight edges
and weights.
We modified these procedures slightly by using 4 straight edges and
weights. We located them over the main spar, rear spar, and the other
two spaced equally in between. Also, 25-pound shot bags
were positioned only at the ends of the 4-foot straight edges to prevent
downward bowing the skin and to ensure a straight skin surface.
The result was that the center wing skin matched the profile
of the outboard wing skin perfectly, and body work of the center wing was
minimal.
If you are getting close to closing out your center wings you will
need to acquire 8 2" X 2" X 4' aluminum tubes for this process. I
would be willing to send mine to another builder at 50% below ACS's price plus
shipping. If you are interested, please contact me off list: www.jpkleber@aol.com
Happy building.
