Dan,
Have you checked to see if the gear leg is loose in the sleeve?  Some have
cooled the leg and heated the sleeve and put shims in at this point to
tighten the joint.

Subject: [LML] Shimmy FG Legacy

There has been discussion on the list of nose gear shimmy, but does
anyone have experience/ideas on Legacy FG main gear shimmy.  A Legacy
I have been flying has always had a little shimmy on taxi maybe worse
with braking.  The plane has about 30 hrs on it and this shimmy has
gotten worse.  More troubling is shimmy on landing without braking
going about 50kts.  The taxi shimmy seems to be both mains, the nose
is solid.  We checked all the engine mount and main gear bolts, the
toe in was off on one side it was redone by Justin at Lancair to about
.5 deg toe in.  We have checked the rotors, brakes and they seem fine.
Mains are fine without any significant wear.  We've considered trying
to balance the tires, but really at a loss on what to do next.  We are
going to try and document that the higher speed shimmy is not the nose
but it seems like the mains are the issue.

Any help appreciated
