The Lancair Transfer Of Ownership form is clearly provides a one-sided benefit to Lancair. They will not sell you parts until you register with them. I have been round and round with them and they will not budge. I am now in the position
where I own an airplane (L-IV) and have no source for replacement parts until I sign the extortion form. Aerocrafters.com will sell parts to anyone but they carry more accessories than service parts. I do not need building support – just the occasional replacement
part.
As a group we need to ensure a source for replacement parts should the need arise or the value of airplanes will suffer. I don’t mind paying the $300 fee to Lancair as long as I can derive some benefit on my part. (perhaps a hat & t-shirt?)
I have money and am happy to give it to Lancair in exchange for parts. They don’t want it. This is a strange business model that as an aerospace engineer, is beyond me?
