Paul,

It certainly was nice chatting with you.  I'm not sure it's related to your slack cables, but I've noticed that one pedal on each of my assemblies binds.  It seems that the dimensions are a bit too tight and there is some assymetry about the axis of rotation.  I believe this can be remedied by pulling the cotter pin on that side and machining the face of the short tube so that it's smoother and provides more clearance.  Your symptoms are probably more due to cable friction in the tubes that run through the side wall though.

Your comment about the centering mechanism is well taken.     However, I thought that an over serviced strut would cause it to center.  I'm curious why a low strut would result in this behavior.  Is there a cutaway or detailed description of the strut someplace?  Perhaps I don't understand it properly.

Kyrilian, nice to see you again at Sun n fun.  I wanted to tell you about a related issue I noticed in my Legacy.  I thought at times the rudder (on the ground) was really stiff, at times I could not turn but sometimes it was easy to turn.  I found out later the nose strut was slightly low and locked into the center position with weight on wheels.  Tonight, after your note, I looked at the cables and they get slack if I move them with the peddles.  That doesn't seem right and removing springs might make that condition worse.   I should go back into the archives to see for myself.  good luck.
