I've been doing a little digging and have discovered that the airplane with
the problem at San Antonio yesterday afternoon was a LIVP and the nature of
the failure had something to do with the nose gear strut. I spoke to the
gentleman who operates the FBO that has the airplane in its shop (also a IV
pilot) but he was a bit circumspect about handing out a lot of information.
I'm going to try and contact the owner later today to see if I can learn
just what happened and will report anything I find out here as the
situation unfolds.
