How true, but being trained in stall recognition and recovery will prevent you from crashing and burning if and when you do stall. And, like your aoa it doesn't cost much at all.

Also, I've known of several gear up landings in aircraft with very adequate gear warning systems, thus, I'll put my faith in training on a higher level than adding another instrument. Note: because of our relatively small loading range, our airspeed indicator is a pretty good indicator for stall avoidance (I'll assume the pilot who pulls two g's on final trying to land his plane would ignore the aoa indications anyway).

Another thought -- My plane's nose begins to obscure my aim point as I get too slow. It's a near perfect poor man's aoa and I use it all of the time. But I still spend some time doing stall recovery and slow flight training. It's that training and my focus on flying a set airspeed that will keep me alive (I hope).
