Dear Walter Dodson,
Been there, done that ! We had the same problem too
with our aileron torque tube bumping about half an
inch into the front wheel well. We are lucky enough to
be 20 minutes away from the lancair factory. The IVP
used to have the little ears pointing up in the
aileron controls, but to allow for more space behind
the instrument panel they changed that and made them
point downwards. I've heard of another builder
exchanging his bellcrank pushrods for the old ones
where the crossover tube would come on top. What we
opted for is to cut into our wheel well enough to
accomodate the crossover tube, having to dig only in
the core, then we left adequate space and I think
covered it all with totally 8 bids (6 in cabin, 2 in
wheel well). The front end of the pushrods had to be
lifted up about 3/4 inch too. All this approved by
factory technicians.
Good luck, fili
