In response to the questions about my two quotes on spinning Lancairs...
There is not any conspiracy or discrepancy between these two quotes. My
description of spinning in one specific aircraft under test conditions
was as reported and published in Lancair's literature. My later quote was
because many people like you were mistaking my first quote as an
endorsement to go spin your own Lancair based on my experience in the
factory aircraft. I stand by both quotes. If you fly at published c/g, no
wing fuel and aileron neutral in 320L it would behave as I stated. My
own plane was different and many that I have flown have also been
different. My second quote was to try and make people realize that not
all Lancairs are the same and almost all builders make some little
changes that will affect the flight characteristics of the plane. Spins
are one area that need to be tested in each individual example of
aircraft as so many variables will affect the spin characteristics. That
is why no changes can be made to a certified aircraft without so much
cost as all the possible hidden changes must be tested.
