(your pick of any number of relatively low volume [by Detriot standards] piece of machinery)? I am left to smile. Dreamers of liquid-cooled diesel aircraft engines need only to supply a small group of engineers and engine developers with somewhere between $20 to 30 million and we'll have a "mimimumly-cooled (by oil, fuel, air and maybe some sort of liquid - water not being ideal for temps above 260°F), thermally-tolerant" diesel engine that will approach BSFC of .30 and power to weight ratio of better than 1:1. Few will like the cost. Titanium alloys and other materials now used in turbine engines will not come cheap, but it can be done. Just "show me the money!"
