Hello Ed, All,

This is a perfect segue and opportunity for us to tout ourselves (briefly)
to the Lancair community at large.

We are a Builder Assistance Center located in Gilroy, California about 30
minutes' drive South of San Jose International Airport. Our website is
www.AirCraftersLLC.com and contains more information about who we are and
what we do.

Basically, we work completely within the FARs and ACs regarding commercial
builder assistance, and have a good working relationship with the San Jose,
CA FSDO Safety Inspectors who sign off our customers' airworthiness
certificates. Take a look at the "51% Rule" page on our website for more
information about how this works.

We supervise owner/builders in our shop (we currently have five projects
under way), and everyone who places their project with us has complete
access to their aircraft project 7-days a week. Many owner/builders come in
and work several days a week on their planes right beside us, while others
may come in only once every month or two. Some owners need or want more
supervision than others. Each gets a dedicated tool storage locker and
access to all our shop tools and machinery, as well as jigs and fixtures. We
will not take delivery of a kit and build it entirely for a customer without
their participation in the process.

In all cases we assure that the owner/builder completes at least the minimum
required fabrication and assembly operations to satisfy the regs and the
FSDO. This really has nothing to do with hours. It has everything to do with
FAA Form 8000-38 checklist items, and if an owner/builder can show
documentation that they have completed at least 60 of the 119 fab/assembly
operations called out for a standard-configuration fixed-wing aircraft, they
can qualify to register as the manufacturer and also for the repairman
certificate if they so desire. We manage the entire process for our
customers so that they stay out of the "gray zone" and don't have any
problems when it comes time to register and get their final  inspection.

The amount of time that we spend on a project, and bill the customer for, is
entirely up to the customer. Of course, if a project is in our shop we
expect to spend a certain minimum amount of time on it each month, an amount
which is agreed upon in advance with each customer. We provide written
estimates for everything and all contracts are in writing so that all
expectations are set clearly and understandably, right up front. We have
current licensed A&Ps and an IA on staff, and we perform repairs and
restorations on completed experimentals as well as certified aircraft. We
have experience with many types of composite, metal and wood aircraft, and
will provide customer contacts to any interested party. Our shop rate is $50
per hour, and once again, the amount of time we spend on a project is
controlled by the customer. We work very efficiently and we guarantee
customer satisfaction and ultimate high-quality work.

Anyway, thanks for your time and I'll sign off now. Please call us if you
have any questions or interest in our services, and take a look at the
website!

Best Regards,

Larry Graves
