The gps works fine it's the phone/data that doesn't work well in the air on the iPhone.
Sent from my iPhone Since nobody specified a minimum altitude, you can go to YouTube video titled, "Motion-X GPS Flying on the iPhone 3G" ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DhtZaHa4SAU&feature=related) to see an ultra-lite flying with the Motion-X GPS app. According to this, the iPhone works in the air. Now will it work at 10k MSL? Who knows?
