Is anyone looking for a gear warning indicator ?
The problem with this circuit is that it assumes what is on the other side of diodes and how the the gear switch is wired, without explicitly stating those assumptions. There is no "standard" way of doing things in the experimental aircraft world. As Dan Schaefer already pointed out, using this with an aircraft wired the way Lancair originally recommended will result in a power to ground short.

The moral of the story: If you want to design things for the after market (airplanes, automobiles, toaster ovens...) make sure you are extremely familiar with how the existing systems work and EXPLICITLY state all assumptions.

Hamid
