No, seriously Wolf, since
you're at 95% built I guess it's safe to say you've researched all this
information you discuss here. Can you tell me how many, if any, Lancair LNC-2's
have come apart from high speed flutter? Small tail ver. Large tail? And what
those conditions where, if any? You must have seen the actual structural tests
done on the Lancair, right here in Santa Paula, CA.
Since these are "Experimental"
aircraft, as opposed to "Standard" aircraft, they are considered one offs. If
you've researched experimental aircraft then you'd know this. The only limits on
any experimental aircraft is what the "Builder" imposes on it. That is why every
Lancair has a different "Builder".
LNC-2's have safely flown
faster then mine as well as raced far beyond the arbitrary published limits in
the Lancair owners manual. These are for reference.
Finish your Lancair, fly it
500 ~ 1000 hours, do your research and get back to me.
And there's no need to not
mention my name: Randy Stuart LNC-2, I'm not a stranger here at all.
P.S. My passengers ask to fly
in my plane, an love it. And my insurance is paid in full.

Subject: [LML] Re: Vne is NOT a
meaningless number
Posted for rwolf99@aol.com: I
won't mention names here but a recent posting caused me great
concern. Regarding pushing your 320 to the limit -- I'm
certain that exceeding 300 mph is a thrill, but it is also pushing it
*beyond* the limit. Vne for the 320 is 270 mph. That
limit is chosen for a reason. Might be flutter, might be
overloading by a gust, might be something else entirely. We
know where the limit comes from for certified airplanes but not for
experimentals. It does not matter how well the systems are
maintained. Vne is Vne and should never be
exceeded. If you're going to continue doing this, please do
it without me or any of my friends on board, and please don't do it over
my house. Oh, and please be uninsured so that I don't have to
pick up part of the tab if your airplane comes apart. -
Robert Wolf LNC2 95% p.s. Yes, I know
that this message may be considered insulting.
