Jeff,
I believe this can be a problem if the
fuel system is NOT setup properly. That’s why I indicated that you must test
your fuel system and make adjustments as necessary with the boost pump on high
to make sure you do not flood the engine.

I have tried this at altiude and have not had the engine quit-- seems
like a urban legend.

But, if HIGH was selected with the mechanical, it could produce very
high flows and kill the engine so the MEB advised leaning to prevent such an
occurrence
