Likely because with the nose gear open the air pressure is the same on top and bottom (maybe even higher on the bottom due to higher angle of attack).  On a top-down air-flow system, to force cool air flow through the cylinder fins and the oil cooler, the air pressure must be higher on the top, and lower on the bottom.  Therefore, the nose gear door must be closed to achieve optimum (or perhaps any) air flow where it needs to be most.
