I have dealt with this problem by shimming the lower mounts as mentioned. I also shortened the inner spacer, about 0.10 from memory, to take up the slack from the “relaxed” rubber.

 

Eventually the rubber gets hard and they need to be replaced.

Thanks for the replies.  I'll consider my options.

The original owner wrote to me and suggested that it would be good to check the clearance with the engine running to see if the clearance is better when power is being produced, before making any changes.

The plane has been flying without a problem for a while now, so I want to make sure I'm not making something out of nothing.
