One additional thought on Deice for IV Dan mentioned getting some specific solutions to non-deice problems while at RDD getting the Thermawing on.

I had the same experience.  RDD actually fixed some things wrong with my IVP that were entirely unrelated to the deice system.

Oh, and one more thing:  While I was there and in the process of test flying my plane, RDD’s Sam Meyer actually taught me to fly — more specifically — engine management and operation based on his years of experience as chief pilot for Columbia.  I appreciate his help.

I am having difficulty sending this to the lml so I am sending it direct.  I hate to see RDD take a bum rap.

I thought I sent this yesterday but I did not see it show up on the lml so I will do it again.  Please forgive me if it shows up twice.  I can't ever get the keys right on this computer just like I can't get the buttons right on the autopilot.

I also had the Thermawing installed by RDD.  I also had a challenging set up with standby alternator, battery relocation, engine driven air conditioning, 4 blade prop, FADEC space limitations, FADEC emergency battery to work around, oxygen bottle to work around, etc etc,  I was there during the whole installation.  I recorded the man hours worked on the project.  They seemed to have no problem with my looking over their shoulders.

They had one heck of a challenging project but did a good quality job.  I was impressed!

The price was as quoted although I know the labor exceeded the estimated hours.

In my case there was no collateral damage from the install.

My experience in Redmond was with honest, hard working guys who wanted to do a good job and please a customer.  The price seemed fair.  It was great to be around people that I could ask questions in general about the Lancair (I did not build it) and get specific solutions to non deice problems.  They spotted a couple of non deice issues the plane had and even helped me resolve those.

Service after the deice install has been great both from RDD and Kelly.

They also loaned me a car to drive while I was out there.

I would recommend RDD for any Lancair issues.  There is a lot of knowledge there.
