Dan,
I put two JPI Slimline ammeters in my dual
bus ES, with a switch to select either bus voltage or current. I put the shunts
between the bus and the batteries, so the ammeters indicate either positive
(charge) current or negative (discharge) current. You can mount the shunts
between the alternator and the bus so it will read alternator output current.
It’s all in what you want to see.

Subject: [LML] ammeter
The set up I currently have on my IVP reads out voltage
through the Chelton but I have no way to monitor the amperage that is going
into or out of the battery. Since I am considering installing an ammeter,
can anyone suggest what scale instrument is being used and
which is best - 30 amp? 100 amp?
Any help would be appreciated.
