Just a supplement: don't confuse their willingness to provide builder's insurance as some sort of future commitment that when you're ready to fly they will be there to insure the new plane. I found this out. Every year is different. There is no longevity with or loyalty from the underwriters.

AIG increased my builder's risk premium by $1200, suggesting that the LIVP is
a "high-risk" aircraft . . . even if in a non-flying condition sitting in a
hangar.
Any suggestions of other carriers that might be a bit more reasonable?
