I got the answer that the old manual pertained to foam parts whereas new manual or fast-build parts pre-assembled pertained to honeycomb parts. Also, I was told the fast-build layers of e-glass were thicker than the original. I believe the Aircraft Spruce catalog is really good and comparing benefits of all the composite fabrics. I know that one layer of carbon fiber is comparable to several layers of e-glass. If it's a pre-built fast-build from Lancair, I'd trust it the way it arrived. I know they do checks to be sure the parts are high quality and though it may not be 100% the same, I believe the strength is, or better. Just my 2 cents. The old parts of my builders manual (I have an early fast buid kit but received the old style manuals at first) calls for a 4 inch wide tape, ie. 2 inches on each surface. However on my fast build wings the attach tapes are just over 2 inches wide, (1 inch on each surface). The reason this came up is I'm doing some repair work on a wing and I'm not sure if I should replace what existed or add more per the manual, which had it's fair share of typo errors. Any info would be appeciated. Thanks Kai Ogston --------------------------------- Plan your next getaway with AOL Travel.
