 I think that the similarity between these numbers is incorrect. Apples and
oranges. Admittedly most drivers get better with experience (like anything
else). However, most drivers do not crash in their first ten hours of driving.
These accident numbers are independent of pilot total time. Most low time
pilots that have accidents in Lancairs do so for the reasons illuminated by
John Halle--failure to take training, failure to understand the
differences between the spam can and the Lancair and  overconfidence in their
abilities. Oh, and don't forget the failure to take care of the machine (loss
of power).

  Jeff, while the numbers are interesting, they are not too surprising. My
 point is “most” people are involved in car accidents within 5 miles of their
 home.
