In my first 500 hours I lost (cracked) 3 backplates. Now I have 1,450  
hours and no more cracks. My mechanic put a bracket on the front of  
the spinner mounting it to the hub. That bracket seemed to work. I  
always have my props dynamically balanced. I am now using an Aero  
Composites constant speed prop.
