The corporate suits have been responsive so far but I am still awaiting technical suggestions. When displayed on my Chelton I used to sit on the field in Redmond and see a TS over Portland - all the time. Now the strikes at 100 nm cover much of the display. "Needs Work" is an understatement I should think.=20 As for my de-ice, the work is done and all systems are go. I'm certain that installation before closing the wings would have been easier but even the after market job was done cleanly and professionally. All the electrical features on the plane work just fine. I have two heated pitot/static systems and both operate, as do the pressurization, servos, lights, radios and Oogah horn (OK - I exaggerate there). =20 The de-ice performance has been as advertised. I am chicken man when it comes to ice so my experiences have been few. I went ice hunting and was disappointed when none showed up on the wings, then I shut off the Therm-X system and voila - ice started to form. Switched it on and ice was gone within 15 sec or so. How does it perform in moderate ice? I do not know and will spend a lot of time on the ground to ensure that I never find out. I prefer ice in my martini pitcher, thank you. =20 Next month I'll be in Redmond and will schedule time at RDD to complete installation of the windscreen glycol spray bar. I have never had ice obscure forward visibility but for the few pounds and dollars I'll install it anyway. The parts from NAPA will run less than $100, although the SS manifold and jets are a custom job. The most expensive component is the choice of actuating button: one that matches the two RDD Therm-X buttons is MilSpec and lists for about $200! =20 Robert -----Original Message----- From: zoelt@sio.midco.net [mailto:zoelt@sio.midco.net]=20 Sent: Wednesday, August 13, 2008 11:30 PM To: lml@lancaironline.net Subject: RE: [LML] BF Goodrich Stormscope WX-500 Bob, I have a WX500 in my IVP. It's displayed on my 530, Chelton, and Sandel but none very accurately. My avionics shop is going to check install position and interference with antennas etc. . . . How is your Thermawing install? . . .=20
