This is preliminary information, subject to change, and may contain errors.= Any errors in this report will be corrected when the final report has been= completed. On August 1, 2008, about 1433 Pacific daylight time, an amateur built exper= imental Long Lancair ES, N45EL, disappeared from radar contact and lost rad= io contact 40 miles northwest of Yakima, Washington. The airplane wreckage = was located 9 miles northwest of Cliffdell, Washington. The private pilot o= perated the airplane under the provisions of 14 Code of Federal Regulations= Part 91. The pilot and single passenger were killed, and the airplane was = destroyed. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed, and an IFR flight pl= an had been filed. The flight originated at Ketchikan, Alaska.=20 The wreckage will be recovered for examination at a later date.
