Following completion of my engine
conversion from an IO550 to a turbine, my Lancair IV behaved very badly after
take offs. The tail would be all over the place from lift off to
approximately 500’. Even with extra special attention being paid to
the rudder pedals, I could not get even close to comfortable with control of
the airplane. After doing some research and talking to other turbine
pilots I added Mike Custard’s strake. To say it was an improvement
would be a serious understatement. The airplane behaves very well in all
phases of flight. I strongly recommend it.

Subject: [LML] Lancair IV Strakes
I'm looking to contact Mike Custard
regarding his ventral strakes for the Lancair IV.
After readng an article from Bill Hogarty
regarding a more gentle stall and better control at slow speeds prior to
landing.
