Ron,
Your negative comments are not of much use without detailing the causes of
failure in electronic ignitions. From your latest (see below), I would
have to conclude that crappy engine shops are also likely to screw up
electronic ignition installations (powerplant mechanics are not trained to FAA
standards in IEs either). If the experimenter has the brains to
personally build an aircraft, he also has the brains to learn about engines and
the installation and use of an EI.

flew hours off of had a new performance engine, they put the wrong size
bearings in it and at the owners expense and a LOT of time they had to re due
the engine. The electronic ignition went out three times. I would stay as
stock as you can.
