What kind of pump is this, preferred mounting for dukes type pumps are vertical so if shaft seal leaks fuel does not enter motor. However my dukes is mounted horizontal on floor under pilot seat for 8 yr 325hr with no problems.

Subject: [LML] L360 Fuel system question

I am using an 0-360 in my Lancair.  I bought the back-up fuel pump for it from Lancair.   The plans say to place this fuel pump on the firewall but others have told me not too.  I have been told to mount the pump under the seat pan in the cockpit.
They say it stays cooler and actually is less stress on the pump because it uses gravity slightly to help it suck fuel in to pump out back to the gascolator on the firewall.
Anybody see any "Bad Idea" in doing this?

Thanks
Bryan
