Yikes, that's still $8.31/gallon ($96,000 / 210 / 55).  I thought our petro was a mile high..which of course it is after three or four minutes of hard climbing.

Subject: [LML] Beware the first flight fuelling step

I built my Lancair at Denmark Airport (Western Australia) which has no fuel.  So I borrowed a drum, and filled it with 210 litres of Avgas at the Albany airport using my SAAA (Sport Aircraft Association of Australia) fuel card which is billed to BP.

I trucked the fuel to my hangar and calibrated my fuel gages in preparation for first flight.

First and subsequent test flights have gone well.

Yesterday I got a call from SAAA.  They had just received the invoice from BP.  It seems that they had billed me for 210 drums of Avgas which probably exceeded my credit limit by a bit.  The message was to call back ASAP.

I can see why.

Total cost for fuel and drums: $96,000.

Be careful out there.  J
