John
I'm the one Colyn mentioned with Lightspeed Ignition.  I had three separate problems early in the installation. A overheated processor box mounted aft of firewall which failed.  Added cooling fan and drilled some holes in the heat sink has been fine since. Bad coil replaced.  And one other weak link that has not been mentioned, a spark plug which failed.  These plugs are Honda motorcycle plug which Klaus uses because of the long reach and bushing size requirements.  They are not robust like aircraft plugs and do not go through quality control the same way.  Klaus has been looking for other sources but the small production runs limit things.  Maybe if everyone on the LML buys one. :) Klaus supported his product well and I'm pleased with it. Not sure its as helpful on a turbo engine because your not going to see the spark advance with the higher manifold pressures you run.  Runs very smooth LOP with my IO-550 up high.

Does anyone have data or anecdotal information on problems with Plasma III
EI system?  A recent accident in California involving off airport landing of
a IVP has brought up concerns in my mind.  I have a Performance Engines TSIO
550 with the Plasma III ignition (not flying yet) and so did the referenced
aircraft.  .

I'd like to know if anyone has data on the Plasma III.  I'm also interested
in anecdotal accounts positive or negative that might help allay concerns or
lead to solutions of problems with the system.

Has anyone used a single Plasma III and a magneto backup with a TSIO 550?
