The standard Lancair baffle kit includes the oil door. So you might
be able to purchase the left-rear pieces and add the oil door. Some models
of IO-550s have low oil temps and I'm sure Lancair designed the baffle kit
because of the need to reduce air flow to the cooler to maintain 180
degrees. Most of the IO-550Ns have high oil temps due to a redesign of the
oil cooler. My oil door has been on the hangar shelf almost since the
first flight. I settle in around 200 degrees in cruise.
One thing you might want to check is the vernatherm to make sure it
isn't sticking open.
I think I read somewhere that you need to get your oil up to 180+ to cook
off the moisture in the oil.
