Just a heads up for anyone
with a B & C 60 amp Alternator. Since I've done all these mods with the cold
induction system and all, I've been looking everything over pretty close after
every few flights. The other day I looked up near the alternator and noticed a
small crack on one of the mounting bolt holes of the mount to the engine
case. I took
it off and saw that the bracket had not only cracked one mounting hole off
completely but the bracket also was split open on the other side on the
lightening hole.
I TIG'ed it all back together
and added a doubler on the mounting holes. Then I made a small bracket from the
B & C mount to the starter to stop any vibration.
If it had come apart it might
have ruined all my work, and perhaps my whole day.
Next time you're looking
around under the cowl take a look at your bracket, mine can't be the only one
that broke.
