Rick,
Sounds like you have determined that you need/want clear coat. Before you start
sliding down this glossy and slippery slope, I would recommend that you first
have a discussion with the paint manufacturer's rep. Sanding inbetween color and
clearcoat is not required or even beneficial. All of the prep work should
completed before applying color. This means that ALL primed surfaces have been
wetsanded (to your satisfaction) with 600 grit in preparation for paint. When
the color is applied, probably two wet coats, it will have been enough to cover
evenly and completely but with no drips.If he does "kick-ass stuff" as you say,
he will insist on sanding and polishing as per my last email to you. If not,
please take the time to look around for someone who will.
