I tried out my AIM CO detector in my L320 today for the first time.  WOW!
did I ever get a surprise.  I did my pre-flight run-up checks and engine
warm up with air vents closed then looked at the AIM.  It was reading a
whooping 450 PPM.  I opened the air vents, saw the reading dropping rapidly,
got down to about 10 PPM and took off with vents open.  Leveled off to
cruise and closed the vents.  The CO reading remained at zero.  It appears
that I am OK in cruise configuration, which probably accounts for my still
being among the living.  When I throttled back for descent from 3000 ft. the
CO reading went up to 40 PPM.  Also, while taxing back to the hanger I was
reading about 40 PPM.  I am thinking that this is not acceptable, so I have
a few questions for anyone who may have been down this road already.

To anyone who has done any trouble shooting on the CO entry, where is the CO
coming into the cabin?

Has anyone installed any kind of sliding baffle, grommet or boot on the
aileron or flap push rods to seal off these openings?  If so, can you share
your knowledge with the rest of us?
