De-pin the dsub (carefully) after mapping which wire goes to which hole. Re-pin it on the cabin side. Use the strain reliefs that Lancair uses for wire bundles thru the firewall to close up the wire bundle. McMaster-Carr has a lot of different sizes, so order the inside size you need.

Can some other builders suggest and or send me some photos of the methods they used to neatly finish and cover that pass through? I did pick up a few firewall shields from Spruce, but was thinking that perhaps there are other ways that result in a more “robust and finished” appearance.
