I made all my own lines;  fuel, hydraulic and oil.  It limits your
options in that you can't use crimp-on fittings, but I liked having the
flexiblity to make hoses on site as they were needed.  I pressure tested
mine using a neat gadget written up in the old LNN.  It fills the hose
with water and then a grease gun is used to pressurize the hose.
