Janice and I had a wonderful time at Lancair's Fredericksburg Fly-in last
weekend. This was our fifth annual Lancair fly-in, but the first time we
could fly to it! We stayed at the Hangar Hotel, which is on the flight
line and next to the hangar where lunch and dinner were served.
A handful of Lancair employees, lead by Kimbra, worked constantly to make
it a success. There were forty or so Lancairs. I could be
wrong, but it seemed like more four-seaters and fewer two-seater models
flew in than in past years.
The food and beer were great (and free!), the fellowship with
other Lancerians was fun, and the facilities were terrific. Thanks,
Lancair! I particularly enjoyed making so many new friends,
although I missed the west coast "regulars" who didn't make this one.
We flew there from northern California Friday morning and were in IMC for
an hour or two after crossing into Nevada, but it was a smooth ride all the
way. Departing Fredericksburg Sunday morning required finding a hole
in the low overcast hanging over the airport, but once I got above
that, it was severe clear all the way home.
Best,
Dennis
