We really enjoyed the Lancair Fly In held this weekend in Fredericksburg,
Texas.  It was great catching up with old friends and making new ones.  The
Lancair gang really did a great job putting all this together and the
logistics 1000 miles from the home base was a considerable challenge.  There
were Lancair airplanes of all shapes and sizes from one end of the ramp to
the other.  We were even treated to a bit of a Lancair air show. And, to our
surprise, we didn’t have to pay for a single meal  -- very generous and not
expected.

The surrounding area is nice Texas Hill Country and the weather was
beautiful.  We stayed in the “Hangar Hotel”, right on the airport, which
looks like it was created from a modified hangar and is all done up in
1940’s aviation décor with big band music and all.  Even the hotel staff are
in aviation uniform.  The rooms are very nice.  The Lancair activities were
held in a nicely dressed up hangar next door that included a 40’s era diner
and night club.  If you’re ever flying by this area you should definitely
stop by the Gillespie County Airport to check it out.  

This was a great place for a fly in and it would be really cool if every
year they’re able to find a new fun place to introduce us all too.  A big
thanks to the Lancair gang for this excellent fly in.
