Were you running lean of peak at 17,500 and then descend without increasing your mixture several times on the way down? You indicated that when you entered the pattern the vibration went away. Did you go to full rich at this point? I've experienced an unfamiliar vibration for the above reason in other planes, but my Legacy is not yet flying so I cannot confirm that this would occur in the Legacy.
