I agree, Colyn. I'm using the Blue Sea relays which use high amperage to close but only use a few milliamps to hold closed. They run very cool yet have huge current capacity. Not cheap though...around 125 each.

I don't have the expected temp numbers but I know they are supposed to dissipate 2 amps.

A better solution is a low-hold-current device like the kilovac ev200aaana

google that.
