That’s how I see it. I have a
DigiFlight II VSGV. It has a magnetic calibration that you have to run
in-flight. You head North, put it int eh cal mode, and watch the AP fly the plane
fly circles. I think it must have an internal mag sensor.

Speaking of Tru Trak AP’s, mine is
the Digiflight 200. The Operating Handbook mentions only a magnetic back-up
mode after the GOS reference is lost by way of a magnetic heading source
contained within the programmer.. This must mean that there is an internal
magnetic source to reference, such as a magnetometer.
Is that the way other posters see it?
