I would guess the engine was a single cylinder with one plug per cylinder. I would also guess there was quartz lenses embedded into the combustion chamber for capturing the video. I wish we could watch it frame by frame and see the flame kernel develop as that is pretty trick as well. I was surprised to see the visible flame as well. From what I have seen in the past, the combustion was so intense, flickers of apparent flame were not visible. If so, the ignition event wouldn't be a true picture although the "swirl" might be the same.
