I have 145 hours on the airplane. I had a strong shimmy incident back in January and had my strut rebuilt afterwards. I inspected the mount after the shimmy and either missed the cracks or they have developed in the ~30 hours since. I'm not sure if the cracking is due to the shimmy or not. The other ES with engine mount cracks similar to mine hasn't had any shimmy problems. Around January of '03 Lancair added additional bracing on the ES mounts that seems to be holding up well. All of the cracking so far has been in mounts prior to the additional bracing (that I know about). My plan is to remove my mount and send it back to Lancair for stripping, inspection, welding of the cracked areas, installation of the additional bracing and powder coating. I'm also buying the new, redesigned strut. The ES group on Yahoo is working to get everyone to do a thorough inspection of the engine mount. We have one owner who installed a Lycoming and has the original mount for the Continental. We are considering sending it back to Lancair for the mods and then shipping it out to the "next guy" so he can do the mount R&R without waiting for the work to be done. Then his mount goes in for the "next guy". There may be several owners who want to get the updated bracing even though they haven't had any signs of cracking.
