Hello from the Gainza's:

Here is an update for those flying or still considering flying into Vacaville this weekend:

Our tiedowns are located on the ramp closest to the runway.  The row will be identified by orange markers and beautiful Lancairs.  There are spots reserved for Lancair parking. Overflow will be directed to open transient parking spots on the ramp, which are marked.

Self serve fuel is available on the field for $4.15 100LL and $3.42 Jet A.  Self serve is on the south side of the field away from the ramp.

The terminal building is a two story blue building. We have the conference room reserved for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. You can find soft drinks and a cool place to sit down inside. There is no FBO, so we will have refreshments available in the conference room throughout the weekend. Restrooms are also in this building. Gate code is 1215.

Friday arrivals: if you plan to go on the wine/harvest trail tour, please be ready to go before 1 p.m. We need to be back at the airport around 4 and there is a lot to see....Sandy will be leading the group and has room for seven in her car. If you have a rental car and would like to help drive that would be great.

Friday afternoon there will be a welcome reception at Duncan Miller's hangar.  It is on the north east side of the field. He is expecting us between 4p.m. and 6 p.m. You can browse his collection of planes and memorabilia. Duncan has a LOT of stories, so be forewarned! His hangars are really worth seeing and we appreciate his hospitality.

We will depart for Friday's dinner at 6 p.m. Our reservation is at BJ's Brewhouse at 6:30 p.m. The cost is $20 per person payable in advance to Sandy Gainza. We have 30 people confirmed and if there are cancellations, Sandy needs to know by Friday morning. The dinner will end around 8:30 p.m. The address for B.J.s is 190 Nut Tree Pkwy, Vacaville, CA. 707.359.2200 is the phone number. Maps will be available at the conference room Friday for the two dinner events.

HPAT ground school is in the conference room at 9 a.m. on Saturday. Ground school will be over at approximately 5 p.m.

Dinner Saturday is at the Gainza residence after the class. Address is 1614 Amaral Court, Fairfield, CA 94534.

Sunday morning will consist of the GPS/Chelton seminar presented by Josh Brungardt and Keith Thomassen. They are currently working out the schedule and we will have a last minute NOTAM about times for that event. Plan on it starting around 9 a.m. in the VCB airport conference room.

Other details: local shopping is wonderful...there is a HUGE outlet mall across Interstate 80 from the airport. The Nut Tree amusement park is a moderate walk or very short drive from the airport grounds. There is a nice shopping mall near the amusement park with three restaurants, one Italian, one Mexican and a Panera bakery. There is also a Peet's Coffee on the way to the airport. Peet's is Starbucks kicked up a notch for those not from Northern Cal. There is also a marketplace of locally grown and processed food from our area. We hope you have time to look there for unique food items and gifts.

All HPAT flight training should be scheduled with Jule at 541-420-7920.

Please call or email with any last minute questions. We look forward to seeing old friends and welcoming new ones!
